Terms & Conditions of Your Aid Offer

I understand that the aid offered is to supplement my own resources for payment of my educational costs at Oregon State University. I agree to use the funds for my educational expenses as outlined in the student cost of attendance and that funds will be made available by the first day of each term, provided all necessary requirements have been completed. I understand that my financial aid offer may be adjusted during the year by the Office of Financial Aid due to changes in institutional, state, or federal funding or to other unknown factors, such as changes in enrollment or aid utilization.

I understand that the Office of Admissions determines my residency status for tuition purposes. I will update the Office of Financial Aid if my aid status does not match my current residency classification or if my classification is revised at any time.

I understand that if I withdraw from OSU during a term I must notify the university through the Office of the Registrar’s official process. I also understand that if I withdraw or fail to participate in or complete coursework, I may be required to repay some of the aid that I have already received. I understand that my aid is based on a full-time course load (12 credits undergraduate, 9 credits graduate per term), unless I have made specific arrangements in writing with the Office of Financial Aid for a reduced course load. I understand that enrolling or dropping courses to be less than full-time may impact my aid eligibility and require repayment of aid already disbursed. If I am a Degree Partnership Program (DPP) student, I understand that most institutional aid from OSU requires at least half-time enrollment at OSU and full-time enrollment overall between OSU and my DPP partner school each term. I also understand that I must notify the Office of Financial Aid if I do not register for a subsequent term. Reporting of enrollment changes can be done in the OSU Financial Aid Self-Service Portal. 

I understand that I am expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress and to complete my degree requirements within a maximum timeframe to continue to receive aid. 

I understand that there are limits on the amount of financial aid I can receive, including annual and aggregate limits. I also understand that different aid funds have different renewal criteria, and some aid may not be eligible to renew. For more information, see the Aid Limits and Renewing Your Aid webpages.

I understand that if my parents are interested in the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan, one parent needs to submit the Parent PLUS Loan application found at StudentAid.gov. The parent that completes the Parent PLUS Loan application must also complete and sign the Master Promissory Note (MPN). I understand that my parent borrower is only eligible for the Parent PLUS Loan if I am a dependent student according to the federal student aid criteria.

I understand that if I am a first-time borrower accepting a Federal Direct Loan, I am required to complete an Entrance Counseling session and sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN), which includes terms and conditions of the loan.

I understand that if Federal Work-Study is part of my aid, I must work to earn the amount on my financial aid offer. I understand that the wage will be at least the state minimum wage and that I cannot work more than 24 hours per week while school is in session. I understand that if the Federal Pell Grant is part of my aid and my grants and scholarships from non-federal sources equal or exceed my cost of attendance, I will lose eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant. 

I understand that the scholarships listed on my financial aid offer letter are part of my aid package information, and I understand that I must accept my scholarship as offered separately by the donor.

I agree to report to the Office of Financial Aid in writing any additional assistance I may receive at any time throughout the school year. This includes, but is not limited to, all departmental scholarships, outside scholarships, stipends, fellowships, GRA or GTA positions, room and board allowances or subsidies, vocational rehabilitation, staff rates, tuition waivers, BIA, etc. I understand that additional assistance may result in a reduction of my aid and/or require repayment of financial aid already received. Reporting of additional assistance can be done in the OSU Financial Aid Self-Service Portal.
